Applications Of Corrugated Stainless Steel Pipes
Stainless steel corrugated pipes are flexible pipes made of stainless steel. Their core structure is a corrugated design, achieved through a special welding process that integrates stainless steel strips or plates into a continuous corrugated pipe body.
1. Industrial Fluid Transport Systems
In heavy industries such as chemical, power, and steel, stainless steel corrugated pipes are commonly used to transport high-temperature, high-pressure, or corrosive media. For example, in chemical production, pipeline systems must withstand the corrosion of acids, alkalis, and salts, and may also face high-temperature and high-pressure environments. Due to their corrosion resistance and high-temperature and high-pressure resistance (pressure range 1.6-4.0 MPa, temperature resistance up to 600℃), stainless steel corrugated pipes are key components connecting reaction vessels, storage tanks, and pumps and valves. Their corrugated structure also compensates for thermal expansion caused by temperature changes, preventing pipe rupture due to stress concentration.
2. Thermal and Energy Systems
In energy sectors such as heating, steam supply, or nuclear power, stainless steel corrugated pipes are used to absorb axial, lateral, and angular displacements caused by temperature changes in pipelines. For example, in centralized heating systems, hot water or steam pipelines may span hundreds of meters from the heat source to the user, and temperature fluctuations can cause pipeline expansion and contraction. Corrugated pipes absorb this displacement through elastic deformation, reducing stress on fixed supports and extending pipeline lifespan. Furthermore, in nuclear power plants, corrugated pipes are used for flexible connections in coolant circulation systems, ensuring airtightness even under extreme operating conditions.
3. Mechanical Equipment and Instrument Connections
In rotating equipment such as compressors, pumps, and turbines, stainless steel corrugated pipes are used to connect equipment and pipelines, absorbing equipment vibration and compensating for installation errors. For example, installing corrugated pipes in the inlet and outlet pipelines of centrifugal pumps isolates the impact of pump vibration on the pipeline while allowing the pipeline to expand and contract freely due to thermal expansion and contraction, preventing pipeline cracking or equipment damage caused by rigid connections. Additionally, in the connection of precision instruments (such as pressure gauges and flow meters), corrugated pipes can reduce the impact of mechanical vibration on measurement accuracy.
4. Building and Municipal Engineering
In structures such as high-rise buildings, bridges, or subways, stainless steel corrugated pipes are used to compensate for pipeline displacement caused by settlement, earthquakes, or temperature changes. For example, in the water supply and drainage systems of high-rise buildings, vertical pipes may experience axial displacement due to building settlement. Corrugated pipes absorb this displacement through elastic deformation, preventing leaks at pipe joints due to excessive tensile stress. In municipal water supply networks, corrugated pipes are also used for pipe connections crossing roads or railways, reducing the impact of ground vibrations on the pipes.
5. Special Environmental Applications In marine engineering, shipbuilding, or aerospace fields, stainless steel corrugated pipes must meet more stringent environmental requirements. For example, on offshore platforms, pipes must withstand seawater corrosion, salt spray erosion, and wave impact. Stainless steel corrugated pipes, by using materials with stronger corrosion resistance such as 316L, ensure long-term rust-free operation. In marine fuel and hydraulic systems, corrugated pipes also need to withstand vibration and impact; their flexible structure effectively absorbs energy, protecting the system's stable operation.
